New authority leads for trucking sales

A new authority lead is a trucking company that has just registered with the FMCSA and received a USDOT number. Trajovia lists these carriers every morning so you can reach them while they are still choosing insurance, financing, freight and equipment.

Who it is for

Insurance agents, factoring companies, dispatchers, ELD vendors, equipment sellers and anyone else who sells to trucking companies and wants to reach them while they are new.

What counts as a new authority lead

Every carrier that registers with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration gets a USDOT number. For-hire carriers that haul regulated freight across state lines also need operating authority, which has its own docket number, called an MC number, and takes time to be granted.

Trajovia follows the first step. We list carriers when they appear in the FMCSA Company Census File with a recent add date. Most of them do not have an MC number yet when they first show up, so we do not call them authorized and neither should you.

What is in each lead

  • Company name, city and state
  • Phone number and email address, when the carrier filed them
  • Whether the carrier declared for-hire or private operations
  • Number of trucks and drivers, and the cargo types the carrier listed
  • A lead score from 0 to 100 that shows you who to call first
  • Flags for phone numbers shared by several carriers and for filing service email addresses

How new is new

The census file runs about 2 to 3 days behind real registrations, so a carrier registered on Monday usually appears by Wednesday. Each morning we read the last 5 days, remove duplicates, and show every carrier once. You never see the same carrier twice in your daily email.

How many carriers to expect

Between 400 to 630 carriers were added on each weekday in October 2026, about 12,000 over the month. Your plan and filters decide how many of those reach you. A one-state Starter plan in a mid-sized state is a handful of carriers a day. The National plan is the full feed.

How we score leads

The lead score adds up five parts: authority fit (30 points, highest for for-hire carriers), fleet size (25), contact details on file (20), how recently the carrier registered (15), and whether the record is active (10). We subtract points for a phone number shared by several carriers, for filing service email addresses, and for signs that the business may not be a freight carrier: a passenger or bus operator, a company name that points to another trade such as construction, landscaping or property management, or no cargo type declared. These are rules of thumb, so a flagged carrier can still be a real trucking lead. The same formula applies to every carrier, and each lead has a Why link in the dashboard that lists its parts.

What a lead looks like

This is an invented example, not a real carrier. Contact details are masked here. Subscribers see the full phone number and email.

Frequently asked questions

What is a new authority lead?

A new authority lead is a trucking company that has just registered with the FMCSA and received a USDOT number. It is a prospect for anyone who sells to new carriers, such as insurance agents, factoring companies and dispatchers.

Is a new USDOT number the same as new operating authority?

No. A USDOT number identifies a carrier. Operating authority, with an MC number, is a separate step for for-hire carriers hauling regulated freight, and it is granted later. In our data, about 1 in 12 carriers added over a month already had a docket number on file.

How soon after registration will I see a carrier?

Usually within 2 to 3 days. The FMCSA census file runs about 2 to 3 days behind real registrations, and we pull it every day.

How many new carriers can I expect each day?

Between 400 to 630 on a weekday and about 120 on a weekend day, nationwide, based on 11,946 carriers added from September 30 to October 28, 2026. Your state and filters reduce that.

How is the lead score calculated?

The score is 0 to 100. It combines authority fit (30), fleet size (25), contact details (20), freshness (15) and status (10), minus penalties for shared phone numbers, filing service emails, and signs the business may not be a freight carrier (a passenger operator, a non-trucking business name, or no cargo declared). The same formula applies to every carrier, and the dashboard shows each lead’s parts.

Can I get only the carriers in my state?

Yes. Pick your states, cargo types, fleet size range and authority type in Settings. Your daily email and your dashboard both follow those filters.
